Before Prairie Creek Meadows was Prairie Creek Meadows

By the time Prairie Creek Meadows was developed, the larger Prairie Creek and Canyon Creek area was already well established. Prairie Creek Park, nearby schools and the original Prairie Creek Estates neighborhoods had been in place for more than a decade, while Richardson continued expanding north toward the Collin County line.

Prairie Creek Meadows arrived during that later wave of development. Public records show homes along West Prairie Creek Drive and nearby streets being built beginning around 1978, with construction continuing into the early 1980s. The recorded legal subdivision name, Prairie Creek Meadows Addition, still appears in county property records today.

Compared with many older Richardson subdivisions, Prairie Creek Meadows was developed with larger homes and generous lots. Typical houses range from roughly 2,200 to more than 3,000 square feet, while some creekside properties sit on lots approaching or exceeding one-half acre.

That later development period gives Prairie Creek Meadows a different feel from the 1960s neighborhoods surrounding it, while still keeping residents closely connected to Prairie Creek Park, Canyon Creek and the established north Richardson landscape.

Did You Know? Prairie Creek Meadows is considerably newer than the original Prairie Creek Estates neighborhood. Most homes here date from around 1978 through the early 1980s, and some properties along West Prairie Creek Drive back directly to the creek.
